25 years on from Tokushinkai first opening its doors to karateka in Olney back in 1991, lessons are now resuming following the post-COVID hiatus that saw the dojo temporarily close.
Lessons will be held on Mondays, 7:00pm – 8:00pm at Woolstone Community Centre.
The first class is scheduled for Monday 5th October 2026.
Lessons will be under the instruction of Sensei Ryan Gillies, 1st Dan; son and lifelong student of Sensei Chris Gillies, 5th Dan. Sessions are currently aimed at beginners and lower grade karateka (up to 4th Kyu) who are interested in learning a more traditional, budo oriented Karate in the form of Kanazawa-Ryu, following the teachings of late, world-renowned master, Soke Hirokazu Kanazawa, 10th Dan.
For children, a suggested minimum age for training is 11 and above (secondary school age or higher). For adults there is no maximum age – anyone can enjoy the benefits that Karate has to offer!
If it is your first lesson don’t worry about wearing a gi (the karate uniform), just wear light clothing that allows you to stretch and move easily.
Please note that classes will not take place during school holidays. There will be no sessions on the following:
Monday 26th October 2026 (Autumn Half Term)
Monday 21st December 2026 (Christmas Break)
Monday 28th December 2026 (Christmas Break)
If you would like to visit one of our classes to watch or participate in a lesson please contact Sensei Ryan Gillies on 01908 887220 or via WhatsApp.
